Hi all,

In the last two years I've spent around £368 for hosting with Wix. Wordpress is £384 for 2 years. I wonder if anyone has any other hosting platforms which they can recommend for hosting my new site. My domain is now detached from Wix and I am wanting to move on as quickly as possible due to bad customer service in the past. Can anyone recommend a good hosting platform to migrate to?

I do not use that but if you don't mind 1GB databases, about unlimited everything but databases for 4GBP a month and comes with analytics you can't turn off. I use asurahosting.com which is also good. I also know obvi8.org might have good stuff and can go unlimited. Depends, what do you want or need in a host? I should note that All but asurahosting.com that I mention can do like true unlimited. All these can do WordPress. X E.

Thanks Josiah, I hadn't considered Obvi8. Looks decent.

One thing you may want, sitemap generator, great for SEO. I know obvi8 has it but asura does not. Might ask certa. Also, could look into StackCP hosting if you want like real unlimited but read terms and stuff before buying, especially get dependable backups. I like terms and backups of those I mentioned. If you do not know already, you can register with Bing, Google, and Yandex and get free SEO tools and better visibility with a sitemap. X E.

I have been with namecheap hosting for 5 years and no complaints.

One tip about hosting that some may not know. If your site is large and popular enough that you feel you need a dedi or vps, remember you dont have to have a host at all in those cases. Just get a personal license for cPanel and use the Cloudflare free version for your dns. Then you can forget all about the host all you would need is a registrar and thats it. So if you want to save money on hosting and you dont mind puting in the time to get it working youll save a ton of money on hosting that way. Now if you do need a dedi i recommend dedispec, back when i ran my own server they treated me well and i had no complaints.

OP have you verified that you can take the files with you. Some host/site builiders prevent you from taking the files with you as part of their Terms. If you have not checked yet i would ask them to be sure. Way back when IONOS used to be 1&1 before the merge i had a site builder and they would not let me take the files so i had to start all over again on a new host. It pays to check 🙂

I had a similar issue when I was trying to find a reliable hosting platform a while back. I ended up going with SiteGround, and it’s been pretty smooth for both price and SEO features. They also have great customer support, which was a huge plus for me.

I also used the services of PBB Design when I was building a more customized site, and they really helped streamline the whole process, including hosting and making sure my SEO was solid.

Web.com charged me just $50.00 for one year. I didn't require or want any design or SEO services so I can't comment on those prices. I have been happy with them.
