How to re-write USB HDMI Capture hardware information???

So I have recently been drawn into the world of streaming as a result of the pandemic and I have a few questions that I would like answers for. I am not new to tech-related things but I am not an engineer or anything like that. i would say that I am a tech enthusiast. Here is my scenario, maybe someone can shed some like on the topic:

I have a number of the same capture cards and when I plug them into the same computer they all show up with the same name. I would like to find a way where I can change the name on the devices themselves so the next time I plug two into the computer they show up with different names according to how I name them. Also, the new names are saved so it shows up the same way on other computers. Ultimately, I would like to put about 4 - 6 of them onto a USB hub and build a custom casing, this will allow me to have a custom capture card array. I don't know if I am making much sense but what I am trying to accomplish is HDMI video capture hardware with about 4-6 inputs. where I can make all my connections to cameras and other HDMI devices.

Here is an example of a setup I would like to achieve.

CAM 1,2,3,4 > HDMI capture cards 1,2,3,4
Laptop HDMI out 1 > HDMI capture card 5
Other HDMI out > HDMI capture card 6

I hope the above gives some light to what I want to accomplish. So most computers will not have 6 free USB ports I can connect all 6 capture cards, So i will have to use a USB hub.

Capture cards 1,2,3,4,5,6 > 6 Port USB hud > Computer USB Port > OBS (other streaming software)

The objection is to be able to rename the capture cards so they appear with different numbers in windows on any computer I plug the USB hub into.

I have to admit I am no expert in this stuff. And I'm not sure where to look. From my understanding, you have a USB Hub and you have multiple capture cards with the same name. You want to be able to label each individual one but would like it to transfer to other computers as well, correct? Well, I figured out you can change a device's name via Device Manager but having it saved is something you'd have to edit the code of the smart card. And that beats my expertise, I'm not entirely sure what to look up to help you there.
