JavaScript object.onclick not working inside <script>. I removed as much code as i could from todos.forEach() {problemhere} deleteButton.onclick doesnt work

JavaScript:
function deleteTodo(event) {
            const deleteButton = event.target;
            const idToDelete = deleteButton.id;

            todos.filter(function (todo) {
                if (todo.id === idToDelete) {
                    return false;
                } else {
                    return true;
                }
            });

            render();
        };

        function render() {
            todos.forEach(function (todo) {
                const deleteButton = document.createElement('button');
                deleteButton.onlick = deleteTodo;
            }
        }

I am using Visual Studio Code. code error is inside todo.html <script>. it seems i am unable to add the .onlick property to my object, very frusterating. did something change that no longer allows this or perhaps entirely new syntax??
