What is GitHub?

I don't really know what exactly GitHub is, or what it's for. I know you put your code there, but is that all it does?
Is it something every coder should have?
Should I get GitHub, and if yes, how do I use it and what does it do?

Can someone please explain to me what it is, and if I should get it?

Thanks :)

Think of Github as a warehouse complex. Each user creates an account, and their "warehouse", or repository is created. In your warehouse, you are able to store files, boxes, random garbage lol. In your repository, you can do the same. In industry, Github is mainly used for storing code files in one location, aka repository, so that when you work with multiple people, everyone gets the same files. This also keeps from having to reinvent the wheel and recreating every single file. There are three ways to upload your files to github.
1) browser interface
2) Applications (Graphical User Interfaces).. like SourceTree
3) command line/terminal

As far as you having a github.. you definitely should. It acts like your portfolio. If you don't like Github, there are other repositories...check the following list :)
