Why are "unlimited" storage web hosting providers allowed to have inode limits and that "unlimited" advertized?

I recently found that some hosting providers have limits on inodes which basically means storage limits on everything and are still allowed to claim "unlimited storage" and "unlimited database". Why would companies be allowed to falsely advertize no limit on a clearly limited thing? If I get to test as advertized, could anyone actually get unlimited hosting (don't try)? I only trust "unlimited storage" when it comes with "unlimited inodes", there are a few. It is limited by nature of everyone has limited resources, but really, hard limits on "unlimited", just no.

Do they have a tier system? If so, when they say "unlimited" they are usually referring to the top 1-2 tiers, which would be the most expensive ones. Any other tier will have its limitations What service do you use by the way?

I do not use hosting now and am just researching. I thought there were laws against false advertizing. Anyway, some supposedly unlimited plans have inode limits. I found some that do not have inode limits.
Like my top picks are DreamHost, Asura host, and iBrave, all have about as unlimited as should be.

That is not necessarily "false advertising"

Seems like it is false advertizing sometimes though but yes some do show inode limits upon inspection. Unlimited means unlimited though so maybe it should be more like X number of things stored, not unlimited.

Like I said...not necessarily "false advertisement". Typically they will tailor to those who pay for top tier...hence the reason why you don't see much advertising for lower tiers... and hence the "unlimited" for top tiers. These are the terms set forth by the service providers, regardless of user mentality regarding it.
