Hi all this is a quick one …. My girlfriend is coding in R for her masters and the laptop keeps crashing. We are getting her a new laptop but not sure what one any suggestions? I’m not sure on budget as I don’t know requirements of the product

Well, that seems pretty weird, actually. I had never experienced anything like this. But, it can actually happen because of the laptop. My brother had a similar issue back when he started programming in R, and after getting a newer laptop that was much more powerful, everything went fine. But, there might also be a certain issue with the software part, so try to check it and see if everything is ok. By the way, in case it crashes and you lose the data, you can try the services of RAID RECOVERY as they are truly great here.

For R programming, she probably doesn’t need an extremely expensive laptop, but I’d avoid the basic entry-level models. I’d recommend at least 16GB of RAM, a modern Intel Core i5/Core Ultra 5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor, and a 512GB SSD. If she works with large datasets or runs more demanding statistical models, 32GB RAM would be worth considering. While comparing laptops UK at Techyest, I’d focus on the processor, RAM, SSD, battery life, and warranty rather than choosing based only on the brand. Lenovo, Dell, HP, and ASUS all have suitable options. For most master’s-level R work, a reliable 14–16 inch laptop with good cooling should be more than enough. I’d prioritize RAM and CPU performance over a dedicated gaming GPU.
