HTML & CSS Set minimum with for HTML <dialog> ?

    IntersectionObserver does the trick, based on your idea. . . . const observer = new IntersectionObserver(applyMinWidth, { threshold: 0 }); observer.observe(dialog); dialog.showModal(); } function applyMinWidth() { const minWidth = _d.style.minWidth; if...

JavaScript How to launch functions from JS setInterval?

I don't know, as I do not use Visual Studio for web programming. I would assume Visual Studio code has some checking functionality but not sure. That validator you used doesn't seem to do anything except for stating the obvious. By all means go to the https://validator.w3.org/ and check your...

HTML & CSS Set minimum with for HTML <dialog> ?

Thanks @EkBass, that is a clever and useful idea. I tried it but unfortunately it does not work, the event listener is never fired. No surprise as the documentation says HTML DOM Events Event Occurs When Belongs To show A <menu> element is shown as a context menu Event I cannot...

Hard disc drive does not work Windows 11

I don't think this question belongs in a coding forum. Also, the information you are giving is cryptic, incomplete, and partly irrelevant. You may want to take some effort to explain the issue in clear detail. What exactly do you mean with "The system sees it in RAW format" ? Evidence ? And...

PHP Our coded form.php contact page doesn't load in the contact.html file

I had a peek at your html files but sorry to say they are absolutely littered with errors. Please go to the W3C Online HTML Validator to see the list. Until all these are fixed, all bets are off. At the moment, this seems a HTML issue, not PHP. As far as I can see, it does not even try to...

JavaScript How to launch functions from JS setInterval?

As to why this isn't working, have you not looked at the Console log ? It will list your errors, one by one. I can't repeat it enough : if your JS isn't working correctly, check the console log if your HTML isn't working correctly, check it with the W3C online validator

HTML & CSS Set minimum with for HTML <dialog> ?

I am having fun with the HTML <dialog> element. I like that it adapts its size to fit snugly around its contents, however this can result in a ridiculously narrow element when there is little content. For that reason I want to set a minimum width for a dialog, but I cannot find how to do it. I...

HTML & CSS Gap between Nav Bar and <h1> text

@Interstellar You may want to make a habit of checking your HTML with the W3C Online Validator whenever something seems off. It would have told you, although not in the same clear terms, what @Johna wrote.

    Syntax for external files

For the record, I found out it is real easy to have the external JS pull in the external CSS on its own : const link = document.createElement('link'); link.setAttribute('rel', 'stylesheet'); link.setAttribute('href', 'http://localhost:80/lib/dialogs.css')...

    Syntax for external files

Thanks, I am aware of JS and CSS being two different animals 😊 But at the <head> level, these are just two files we need to pull in. The different syntaxes do nothing to help understand the differences between CSS and JS, not do they result in cleaner code. Especially the href (which is...

Python Sorting names by using bubble and insertion sort

Hm, dangerous game to do your assignments that way. Yes you might get stuff done but you will not actually learn something. If your two sort programs now work correctly they will work for strings also. For fun, just put quotes around al your numbers. I think it will work just as well. Then you...

    Syntax for external files

Things evolve in random ways, is what you mean to say. Still I was hoping for some rhyme or reason behind it.

Python Sorting names by using bubble and insertion sort

Why are you creating a dictionary ? Apart from overkill (you do not need key:value pairs) this is bad because if a name occurs more than once in your input only one gets stored. The assignment does not say to remove duplicates, or that the names must be unique. Think about creating an array of...

    Syntax for external files

Not a problem, just a question. I am struggling to understand why the syntax for including external CSS and JS is so different. Currently I use this : <script src="http://localhost:80/lib/dialogs.js"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://localhost:80/lib/dialogs.css">...

Python inconsistent use of spaces and tabs problem

Not sure what editor you use to write the code, but doesn't it have an option like 'Show visible spaces' so that you can see where there might be a TAB where a space should be ?

PHP PHP Warning: Undefined array key

I finally realized what was happening here. The Debugger Network tab showed test, php as a link, and being the gullible pensioner I am, I clicked on it hoping to see some useful stuff. All that did was excute the php a second time, this time without parameters. And then I wonder why that shows...

C# How to use the Border.BackgroundSizing and Border.BackgroundTransition properties in C#

That's good to hear. I probably could not help you anyway. But I can still take this opportunity to learn a bit about XAML.

PHP PHP Warning: Undefined array key

No tildes here señor 🤓 And the quotes are backticks, carried over from the original code which had variable names in there. It makes no difference if I replace them by normal quotes, be it single or double.
