Well after two days of fiddling around... I think its important to mention that on MAC
the .html files have to have the "open with" set to Chrome or Safari (or whatever browser)....

I am using visual studio code editor for Mac and I entered a simple code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Learning HTML</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
This is supposed to write "Learning HTML" on the google tab, instead it writes "index.html" ???
All help appreciated
