Contact page in wordpress not working

netsavy006

Legendary Coder
I have the plugin "contact form 7" installed on my wordpress blog.

I created a contact page.

I tried to test it out by filling out the form and submitting it. A message came up saying it was sent, but I never got an email saying that the form was filled out.

I have a feeling I might of set it up wrong.

Here's a link to the contact page:

Thanks for all your help.

Well first of all, did you fill-out all of the Boxes? That includes the Name, Email, Subject and Body of the Contact-Email.

Next, was the Information correct? What I mean is that did you happen to put in the wrong Email or possibly, mis-spell it? That could be why it's not sending.

Try making sure you've filled-out all of the Boxes and put in the correct Info and try again. Do this a few more times if the first try doesn't work.

If the problem persists, try Contacting the Creator of the Plug-in as it may be an issue inside of it.

Found this on the ContactForm's Site.
The important point to note is that the sending and receiving of emails depends heavily on both the server where your WordPress installation is hosted and the email configuration of the local computer where the emails are supposed to be received.

So you might not have configured the Email properly. Now, I have never used the Plugin so I can't really help much.

But if you haven't already, try a quick Search for your problem and see what comes up. Other people will have experienced your issue.

This is most likely due to SMTP not being set up properly on your server.
You need to make sure that mail server settings are correct. Even a site using proper SMTP settings can experience their mail going to spam folders... check your spam folder to see if this is happening to you. Most likely though, the plugin is either using the wrong SMTP settings, or your server itself is configured incorrectly. Does anything else on your website (besides this plugin) send mail properly? Perhaps you can find the mail settings for whatever IS working and make sure this plugin is using the same settings :)

I can't find an SMTP setting when I log in to my account on the host I'm using. (infinityfree.net).
Then maybe it's your Host that's preventing you from doing this.

Free Web-Hosts typically limit what Features you have access to do they can get you too upgrade to a paid plan.

But it's a possibility.

You were absolutely right. Apparently it's the host that's disabled the SMTP on free accounts. (https://infinityfree.net/support/pop-imap-smtp/). So for now, I've deactivated and deleted the plugin.

Glad I could help. It's ashame that the Host has disabled SMTP for Free-Accounts but of course, they need to do it just so you can pay and earn them some money.

If you're willing to spend about £12-15 on a Domain and Hosting, maybe go with HostGator or GoDaddy for your Host. They're much higher Quality anyway.

Since I can't use a contact form to allow my visitors to reach me, is there some other way I could accomplish this?
Well, you could list your Email(Or a Throwaway) somewhere on the Site. That's really all you could do for Contacting.

You could also list any Social Media Accounts that you own in case you don't want to share your Email.
