This is my first attempt in years, i'm 33 now, was at college at 18.

I tried it in college doing javascript but our tutor was a total nutcase, we called him the "box man" because when he spoke about code all he did was ramble on about how things are inside other things, like a box.

All I ever made reliably was one of those "choose 5 answers to questions and find out what movie star you are most like!" applications, I just couldn't learn from the guy.

At the time, we found him hilarious.

Now I deal with boxes.....

Seriously though, YouTube has helped a LOT which it didn't back when I was at college.

I see, trying to get back into the game!

Hahaha yeah, that's most schools! I honestly think self-teaching does come in handy but it depends on your preference!

I can relate to this.. :D

I use Udemy, for some reason I never used YouTube even to this day. I'm weird like that.

What made you want to get back into it?

I wanted to do something gaming related and if I can learn to code I can just keep making games, playing something I created would be awesome, plus it's frustrating seeing games not adding modes they would clearly be brilliant for, if you want something done right lol...

That’s honestly why I want to make games lol so I can play something I 100% like and add the things that would be great to have in it.

Good example of this is Star Wars: Battlefront 2

They have Heroes Vs villains mode, which is great and all, but I never had more fun than when I was playing Star Wars: Jedi Arena

You could make your own Jedi, customize his lightsaber color and saber style, then jump into a brawl with like 20 other jedi and hack each other to bits, it was SO FUN!

Every time I play heroes and villains I constantly think "I wish there was a jedi arena mode"

I think it's been niggling at me too long, i'm finally doing something about it (not for that game, but to satisfy the urge I reckon) lol

Very good example! I enjoy creating my own character because it feels like I’m writing part of the story!

let’s hope they add Jedi arena! Have you thought of what type of game you wanted to make?

To be honest I was just trying to get the hang of it first, although the way it's going I could easily do a super smash brothers style mode, it's probably going to be a 2D platformer in a 3D world

The new Mario games have started doing it, running around 3D objects with a 2D character and such.

Im trying to make a decent player controller script that just let's me duplicate the player and set it to "player" or "NPC", for quick turnaround on making characters

it's hard though, im still having problems with making projectiles shoot towards the mouse cursor....

Interesting! I thought of something similar to Crash Bash, loved the game during my childhood!

And, what do you think of that design?

I know with GameMaker Studio you can achieve this relatively quick and easy but Unity I'm not too sure.

I thought it was brilliant tbh, it reminded me of the first time I saw Parralaxing on the Nintendo 3DS to simulate depth, Sonic also does it now to an extent.

With the help of an extremely helpful coder, we nailed facing the mouse cursor today, it took quite a while. were just working on making the projectiles follow that trejectory when they spawn and I should have a physics-based grenade system!

I loved the Nintendo 3DS, even graphics on those were pretty slick.

That's awesome!! Maybe you could give us a tutorial on it! :)
