Hello everyone..

splaq

Coder
What's going on? Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi.

I mostly just code for fun and the enjoyment of figuring stuff out. I've been coding pretty constantly throughout my life, just never got into the industry. If the opportunity were to ever arise, I'd take it in a heartbeat. But anyways, I've used a lot of different languages over the years. PHP, Python, VB, Java, Delphi, JS, HTML, CSS, some C/C++ some C#. Mostly Python lately, I've used frameworks such as Flask and DJango, P5js, Processing, PyGame. But I've never really written anything worth selling, usually just little apps for myself that I end up forgetting about after I've used it and been like.. Huh, I did that.. Go me..

I'm a mechanic by trade, but I love putting my knowledge of computers and programming to use in that trade. Using arduino's to add new features to my own cars etc etc.. Just some of the things I enjoy.

So in a nutshell thats me and my interests. Hope I can make some friends and continue learning all the fun things I can do with programming.

Hi @splaq,
Welcome to CodeForum.ORG. 🙂

That's quite a lot of languages you know. I only know HTML, CSS and JS 😅

I mean knowing may be a bit emphasized 😂. I haven't used PHP since 5.3, VB since ver. 6, Delphi since hell I don't even know what version etc etc lol.. I've mainly been using python for the last 4 years or so with some js, HTML and CSS mixed in.

Hi and welcome.

Good to know we have p5 expert here. Im just wondering do i continue my project with C# or with p5.

😂 Well if you're writing code for the Tesla AI bot I would certainly switch to p5. If you're writing a basic web app with some creative art I'd stick to C#.

Im actually doing simple 2D sidescroller for fun. Started with SmallBasic, swicthed to C# and for some reason i have tested some code with p5 too and now im developing it with p5...gettin complicated with simple 2D scroller 😀

Always the way it ends up. I was working on a web game awhile back where the objective was to back a semi truck into parking spots.. I got about as far as creating the semi and making it follow the mouse.. didn't even add a backdrop for the whole thing then got busy with life and forgot about it

@EkBass
Do you watch the coding train videos on YouTube? He doesn't have anything pertaining to 2d side scrollers specifically but he's got plenty of videos on the various physics included in video games

Yes. I was just having a beer one night and he popped up on my youtube. I blame him that my C# career ended even before started. Clever guy.

Welcome to Code Forum! 🙂

That's amazing! Nice work learning all that you know now, and what amazes me is that you get to use some of your knowledge with your current job. So nice work!

If I may ask, are you working on any coding projects at the moment?

I'm always working on something. I have a bunch of stuff listed on my github account. None of it's finished or honestly very impressive as far as I'm concerned, but feel free to check it out. I'm currently working on learning the google api with python and writing an app that collects your email's and adds the from address and subject line to a google sheets file. What use THAT has, I don't know lol.. But I keep hoping some use will come to me.

Any experience of porting C# for android app? Even possible?
Honestly no, the last time I used C# desktop app's were still all the rage. However, I would look into the Godot game engine. Here's a link to they're documentation where they talk about using different languages for the scripting. I've seen that you enjoy writing games which I unfortunately don't have the creativity for it seems lol. But I thought about this when you asked. Godot Documentation (scripting)

Welcome to the Code Forum family! I myself really only know HTML and CSS, trying to get a better grasp on JS (having a hard time with the syntax and whatnot) but and also taking a Udemy course for Full Stack development to help get a better understanding of the backend languages and purposes.
Any tips for learning JavaScript from a beginners perspective?

I'd recommend following some of the youtube courses available. Get an understanding of the syntax and flow of the language. I've found that some frameworks help to drill those things in for you, while still allowing you to accomplish a task fairly quickly allowing you to see the fruits of your labor sooner. P5.js is very beginner friendly IMHO. You may want to check that out at p5js.org also checkout the coding train on youtube. He has a lot of videos on using p5.js.
