Python Coded my first program last night

I followed along with a YouTube video. It was a mini project that made a password generator. What I want to know is is this a good way to learn? Just following along to videos a couple times a day until I get the hang of typing the codes and parentheses and all that? I'm thinking just repetition of typing codes and memorizing some of the common terminology is a good first step. Do you guys have any tips for me?

Hello there, @Cyborg.

My advice for when you're following tutorials is to pay attention, but also make sure that you understand it all. Listen to what the teacher is explaining: what the functions do, what X statement does, what Y conditional checks for, etc. If you don't understand what's going on in their programs, you won't understand any code at all.

Memorising terminology is good too, because then you can discuss anything technical in-depth - just make sure you understand the meaning of the words though.

By following tutorials, you will get a hang of the syntax over time: it's using the syntax correctly and knowing where to use the syntax that matters more - memory is built up over time as the brain becomes familiar with something it sees and writes often.

Don't just follow tutorials though. Try projects and exercises from books or websites and spend some time reading simple scripts written by others(I recommend any Git repository site for this). From there, maybe take a simple project of somebody else's and try to modify that to be better or maybe add a new feature to it. That's my advice for learning.
