Hi everyone, fdk here!

I'm from the UK, in my late 20s. Messed around a bit and did some very basic coding in my teenage years, having taken a long leave of absence from anything internet-related for a while I've decided to try my hand at properly learning some coding skills and my dream is to one day be able to build and run my own text-based game.

Joined up as it seems a useful resource and I'm sure I'll have plenty of advice to ask in the coming days, weeks and months, and I appreciate all of you for any help you may provide and any discussions we may have! 🙂

I'm looking to build in mainly PHP, only because it's the only language I have any experience in whatsoever (and even then only basic). I'd love to hear/know more about your own game project! Please feel free to share details if you feel comfortable. 🙂

Awesome! PHP is a fun language, and I have been working with it over the last 10-15 years. I am constantly learning new things about it.

The RPG project uses PHP, JS, and JSON (to store data (npcs, maps, etc)). I am working on the user system currently and it is in early stages. As of now you can login, and it will display your characters stats, etc. I may work on it some more here in the future. It's a fun project to try and tackle. A friend of mine also made a text-RPG that you are welcome to check out on GitHub for reference if needed.
