JavaScript Aborting a Javascript program and exiting the browser

Javascript forum,

I'm trying to figure out how to abort a Javascript program and have it exit
from a browser window.

I've tried things like process.exit(), throw new Error(), window.stop(),
but the program keeps running.

Any suggestions?

OldMan,
Thanks for the reply.

There's lots of code but at one point I check to see if the "escape" key has
been typed. If so I want to abort the javascript program and have it exit the
browser.

Is there a way to do this?
