    • It is required to use our BBCode feature to display your code. While within the editor click < / > or >_ and place your code within the BB Code prompt. This helps others with finding a solution by making it easier to read and easier to copy.
    • You can also use markdown to share your code. When using markdown your code will be automatically converted to BBCode. For help with markdown check out the markdown guide.
    • Don't share a wall of code. All we want is the problem area, the code related to your issue.

Diving In with a Question about the <img>Tag

RHH

Coder
If you read my intro, you'll know that I'm diving back into web page development after a long absence. I'm going thru the W3C tutorials again, but they don't always provide answers to things, especially if the issues are related but not technically about code interpreters. Such is the case with my first question.

If I fail to post this correctly, please tell me.

I have an image referenced in the HTML element shown below that displays when I edit the <img> tag element directly using Firefox Developer Inspector but disappears when the index.html file is uploaded to my host using Filezilla. You can see the code below as it was written and as it appears in Inspector.

The HTML element ss coded :
<img src="/photos/The_Clan.JPG" alt="" whoops,="" photo missing""style="width:1290px; height:930px;"> (yeah, the syntax isn't good; I'm relearning HTML)

HTML element as seen in Inspector after uploading my files:
<img src="9%20Aug%202023%20index_files/The_Clan.JPG" alt="" whoops,="" photo="" missing""="" style="width:1290px; height:930px;">

I suspect that this has to do with my not having set up my directories and files correctly on my host, but I don't know that and haven't found the right search arguments to find the problem.

Can anyone tell me why the path to the actual image file will not upload as written and remain so? I'd appreciate pointers to be able to get the host set up right as well as getting the syntax in the statements correct. I'm probably more interested in the reasons than in just fixing the problem. If I understand what's wrong I'll know how to avoid the mistake in the future.

Treat the old newbie gently, please.

PS: Here's my code, warts and all. Can someone tell me how to use the proper tools to display it? You can see I've got a lot to learn about coding and using the forum.
