Hey all,

I thought I would say hi :D as you can see from my username my name is Simon :D but who am I, well I'm an IT guy, that guy who sits in the corner planning my revenge by turning off the wifi, yep that's me :D. I mainly focus my time on websites and SEO but I love and I mean love to sell online or mess around with my raspberry PI/Ardunio. I'm a bit of a jack of all trades but hey I always want to learn new things I am also qualified to fix cars, how this fits in with my IT dreams is beyond me but I am as tight as a ducks but so I love saving money so it made sense to me at the time.

Why am I here? To learn I guess. my passion is passive income, I dream of a fully automated online shop one day but to do that I need to start to expand my knowledge with you lovely people. I do work for my self from home so its nice to bat ideas back and forth on here. I also really want to help some of you guys out so as i go through ill be uploading my code and trying my best to help as many people as possible.

Lets get this show on the road :D

Good morning/day!

Nice to meet you Simon! Welcome to Code Forum! I love turning off the wifi while my nephew is using it, he gets so mad! That's really cool, I was hoping after I get a little more experienced with programming, I'd eventually move to PI/Ardunio as well.

I'm so glad you joined and hope you learn lots! I hope you can spread some of your knowledge to other coders as well!

What programming languages do you know?

Nice to meet you too Master :D it is so funny, try it with the grandparents it is so funny watching them try and work out why the internet is down  One thing i have learned with the PI is you dont need to learn. Crazy as it sounds but you don't. i just sit there and plug something in and go oo that works, ops thats smokey lol. As long as you don't plug the 5v/3v into the ground or input plugs your fine lol. Ive built a online casino booth, my mate backed out in the end so it didn't go ahead :(, Air con unit that was fun, Traffic lights was fun too. Soon when i have a spare 5 minutes i want to start work on a 3d Printer and once that is built i can start building my life project and i cant wait :D i do have a book you might like, its called Surving the Zombie Apocalypse, he uses just a Pi to create gadgets and generators i learned alot.

I know quite a few languages but what ill do is list this lol

HTML - Good
CSS - Good
PHP - Good - Always looking to improve
SQL - Good - Need to increase security code
WordPress gets its own as it feels like a class of its own - Good but its anyone a pro at this its always changing
Auto Hotkey - Expert :D
Linux (Grub) 18.04LTS Server and currently 19 something, Laptop - Getting there slowly, i can get by.
Java - Get by but i never use it
Jquery - Get by but i never use it
Python - Get by but im learning about it now
C Sharp - Started and stopped years ago

and that's just the codes i know lol.

How about you?

Hahaha! My mom is worse with computers/internet.. I wish I was kidding. Lool if it works it glows if it doesn't work it blows up. Oh interesting, perhaps you can find another partner to work on it with you? You've been busy lol

HTML - Good
CSS - Good (but improvement is needed).
PHP - No- still looking to learn
SQL - No- still looking to learn
Auto Hotkey - No
Java - On my list to do.
Jquery - On my list to do.
Python - On my list to do.
C Sharp - In the process of learning.
C ++ - In the process of learning.

lol. Yep pretty much thats how i work lol and thats how you learn, i havent burned the house down yet so i guess im doing well lol.

Sadly i cant, its something that only he could do. he had the connections, the financeial backing, everything. He might pick it back up one day i hope. I try to be busy, as they say knowlege is power and i hate not being busy :D.

your more of a programer i would say where im more of a developer :D Ive always wanted to learn ethernical hacking but getting my head around C++ has always been a pain although since going to linux i now need to learn Python more and i really really need to work out GitHub

I too am on linux now desided to ditch windows as all it was good for for me was gaming, desided i would make the move to focus on more developing,

my list is not much but same ish

PHP - 12+ Years experience keep brushing up skills as its always changing.
Python - 4-5 Years Experience mainly web dev but looking into AI and Programs soon. i do love this language
C Family (C, C++)- not yet learning but in the plans to start summer this year if all goes well.
SQL - 12 Years experience again started back when started php
CSS - always learning more but started using when started php
HTML - before PHP haha first ever syntax i learnt years ago
Ajax, Jqeury, Javascript - Knowladge of it but always need to brush up
LUA - basic knowladge from working on secondlife, open sim and world of warcraft addons.
Go - Not yet
React - not yet
.net and c# - basic knowladge

-------------
Wordpress, Joomla, Modxcms, - worked with them for long time.
Magento, Prestashop, OsCommerce, worked with a lot
Odoo, ErpNext, Vtiger, SuiteCRM - worked with a lot
Most forum systems i have worked with a lot but too many to list haha, pretty much all major ones apart from vanilla

I do prefer custom work as you know what is it the code and can easy optimise though i do run pre built software on some sites.

Thats one of the main reasons i ditched it and for the fact windows 10 was lagging my laptop and that made no sense, im running 8gb of DDR3 ram, 240gb SSD with a Core I7 and a independent Nivida Graphics card, yeah its about 5-6 years old but come on windows. since coming to linux the laptop is running so much better. out of intrest did you go for the LTS or the latest distro :)

PHP & SQL i may require some input at some point :) i am now moving to GitHub to finnaly show my work so it dosent just sit on my hardrive but ive done things such as logins, registrations, scrappers etc etc i dont know if i can post URLs here but i have built a Buisness Directory from the ground up (Much Fun) but now im having to learn security (Not as much fun) i get the sanitize data, well nearly but now ive found out there is some new syntax that you can use, apparently it only does one call to the database to create/update/delete and thats amazing and i need it but i cant get my head around it, also its more secure as the inputs to the database are ?,?,? but stored within the code. I do need to get my head around it as my scrapper has 2mil URLS to be scraped that its found and it always increased more then it can scrape and then it has 500k records to check to make sure there not duplicates and that lags out my server or my localhost goes so slow its pointless. I know where the issue is, its the part where i get the data from the table but what im doing is getting each bit individualy checking the record, if its not the same as the one found move on, if its the last record and not the same update then check the record via some IF statements then update, if its a duplicate move on. this is great it works but its not practicle. Its one of my biggest flaws, unless i can understand the theroy i can never understand the concept. I am tempted to go back to the drawing board and have a cron job remove the sub domains every day, so say www.{domain).co.uk is the primary and www.{domain).co.uk/1, www.{domain).co.uk/2 etc etc, get a seprate script the check and say okay so there is none of this domain left to be scraped, delete all of the sub domains and mark the domain as a master domain. Then if the scraper ever finds a URL with a master domain it ignores it i think that should half the records at least.

Python - You must teach me lol, i am lost without AutoHotkey on Linux i need my macro software back :D I have used it but im a long way away from being a master :D

HTML/CCS - the good old days before wordpress where you could put Hello World and be the envy of your friends :D

I forgot about LUA i didnt realise it could be used outside of Tekkit, i remeber creating the turtles to go off and do that my lazy ass was to lazy to do (Automation) :D

How do you find Magento now, V1 i loved and i would use all the time when i had my shop but when they bought V2 out i couldnt get the hang of it, it made no sense to me the major changes they made such as the directorys.

I did not realise there was so many CRM systems out there. I also prefer custom work, im in the process or building my own CMS system, wordpress is good but a hackers dream so i want to move away from it and use it as a selling point to my clients also means i can customise it as is needed and not fill it with things thats not needed, also ive been building a Home System (I call it) for a while now thats bassicly a database where i can store clients, email market etc etc and now im moving it to GitHub and once built im hopeing will be up there with the big boys :D once everything is running then i can turn back to my Hacking Path way :D

Sounds like you have a lot of experience, i have done a lot in the past with automation and scraping with php and python, there is some nice tools and apis you can build also php terminal scripts that can handle all this,
a friend built most of it but a marketing system that automated the marketing process in php that monitored the expense which analyzed which was working and which was not the auto ajusted the marketing spend accordingly worked wonder ans saved money. though the way in which marketing was done has changed now.

sure if anytime you want to collab let me know i will see if i can help in anyway.

python is great but still working on a lot myself and learning more but its amazing with less syntax than php :)

yes we have moved along way from the old html/css static pages now.

i prefered v1 myself as of magento as v2 mainly edged me more towards prestashop or woocommerce.

there are loads crms even my custom builds though i am working on a new open source one unsure when it will be released though is live on github but not advertised yet as still in very early dev.

there are some cool job with ethical hacking but can be hard to come by as you have to prove your knowladge. i dabbled years ago but chose to mainly code and build as i am more creative person :)
