JavaScript How to reflect the ball at an angle?

When a ball collides with bat or walls, I want the ball to be reflected with an angle, how do I do it?
I suspect there's lots of physics to it. So, should I stop this project here? I'd have to probably build a part of game engine…Can anyone help here?

the same way you're moving the bat. The x direction controls the left/right travel of the ball. A positive value moves the ball right, and negative yields left. When the ball hits the top edge or blocks placed there (A BreakOut clone game) the x changes from pos to neg or the opposite and the y from pos (up direction) to neg. If you hit the side walls the x changes but the y doesn't.

Learning to make a game in vanilla javascript without knowing javascript details(javascript is extremely complicated because it is less verbose to me), without using any engine was stupid way and caused more demoralization rather than providing motivation to me in the past.
