Hey Folks,

I'm continuing my learning with Node.js / MySQL and want to build a new project that will be just a simple website with a login page and some pages hidden if you don't have a user. I'm wondering if any of you folks have guidance on where to start, what packages and what technologies I should use.

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 🙂

For login you can use cookies and have a user marked as logged in in a MySQL database. I know MariaDB is an advanced form of MySQL, basically it is just more efficient. You will also need file access so maybe "fs". I guess it would be like in backend if logged in then output one file (content for logged in) otherwise default to something. There are ways of accessing cookies via back end. Pick one. Maybe do like get cookie data, have it be marking which user, check user in DB for whether logged in, if success then output content for that. I do not know Node.js much but hope this helps. X E.
