Why does this work in php5.6, but not php7

while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result,MYSQL_ASSOC)) {

}

Works for me and I'm using php 8.1.2

What do you mean with "doesn't work" ? Do you get an error ? Or just an empty result set ? Or something else yet ?

Ah yes, stands to reason that when you use the improved driver you need to use the parameters that go with that driver. I'm a but surprised though that this apparently did not produce a warning or error such as MYSQL_ASSOC not found 🤔
