  • Guest, before posting your code please take these rules into consideration:
    • It is required to use our BBCode feature to display your code. While within the editor click < / > or >_ and place your code within the BB Code prompt. This helps others with finding a solution by making it easier to read and easier to copy.
    • You can also use markdown to share your code. When using markdown your code will be automatically converted to BBCode. For help with markdown check out the markdown guide.
    • Don't share a wall of code. All we want is the problem area, the code related to your issue.

GIF shows where to locate </> in the thread and or post editor toolbar.
To learn more about how to use our BBCode feature, review our "How to post your code into threads" here.

    Thank you, Code Forum.

package not valid

When trying to update the app I get error "App can't be installed because resulting package is not valid". What is the cause of this error? I set the package name correctly.

I can't post code here. It's Ionic/React app. I'm trying to install app-debug.apk generated by Android Studio.

If not yet done you could try/check these common potential issues:

Signing Key Mismatch
Even a debug APK must be signed correctly. Try cleaning the project and rebuilding the APK

Conflicting Installed Version
If an older version is installed, uninstall it first

Wrong Package Name
Even if "set correctly," there could be a mismatch between config.xml, capacitor.config.ts, and AndroidManifest.xml

Corrupt APK
The APK might be incomplete or broken. Try rebuilding

Debug vs. Release Conflict
Trying to install a debug APK over a release version (or vice versa)

Since you are using Android Studio try running the app directly from Android Studio instead of manually installing the APK.
That might give a clearer error message.
