PHP Which code language?

MDA

Coder
I don't know anything about coding but would like to learn and see accordingly. I don't even know what coding language it is for my question. If I want to find out, for example, how many posts are made daily on this forum. Which coding language should I code in and will it work?

Hi there,

The answer, may not be as straight forward as you are thinking it is lol. You can do pretty much anything nowadays with almost every coding language. It's all a matter of picking a language, and running with it. In your example, the question you pose is technically considered "web scraping", or the collection of information for analytics from website. This is basically the concept of writing a bit of code that will "navigate" to a web page, and start to look at specific elements in the page, and "scaping" it to save it or analyze it for later use. This can be done with Python, Java, C#, javascript, etc.

Thanks for the reply. But is it possible to find out how many posts are made daily on a specific forum? I get to look at what web scraping is

Are there ready-made web scraping programs?
Yes, there are... but I wouldn't use them if you want to know specific information. For something as specific as say how many posts a day... you would have to build a custom scraper. Here's a list of a few premade scrapers to look at
