Cursor class hover over elements change

Hi all, wondering how to change the cursor on my site when hovering so that it is the custom cursor I already have enabled. This is the current CSS I have.

CSS: 
.element-class:hover{
    cursor: url(img/background/cursors/Grimace%20cursor.png)

Do I have to define the element-class in .js in order for it to work in CSS?

You don't need to do anything in JavaScript.

What that selector is depends on what elements you want to have the custom cursor.
If the entire page, then do *:hover. If only buttons, for example, then do button:hover, or if only a specific element, then .classname:hover or #id:hover.

The custom cursor will still show even without using the :hover pseudo-class.

Thank you. This has really helped. I looked it up and got all manner of things being shot back at me.
