File Structure for Web Development

What is an ideal file structure for web development?

src > assets > styles ?

or something similar?
I've seen different places use:
root >static > imgs, css, js (sometimes scripts)

root > assets > img, js, scss

Other places use:
root > imgs, css, js (sometimes scripts)

I've used all three. Again it depends on what the company you're working for establishes as a directory hierarchy, or what you decide. But in general that is the directory hierarchy template. There is no set "standard" as far as I am aware of. As long as the directory names describe what they contain I guess :D

depends on the size and complexity of a project , but a basic and common structure is
Code:
-project-root/
-assets
-images
-fonts
-icons
-styles
-main.css
-scripts/
-main.js
-index.html
-favicon.ico
-README.md
