JavaScript getting concatenated values not the sum

    oldRadius = initialRadius;
    initialRadius = radiusIncrement + oldRadius;
    alert(initialRadius);

I am trying to do addition and what I get is concatenation. initialRadius and radiusIncrement are input via prompts.

Hey there,
Sounds like you may need to check the actual type of data you are storing in your variables. If you need to do math, make sure that both items you are trying to add, are indeed numbers. HINT HINT WINK WINK 😉
"3.0" + 5 => "3.05"
3.0 + 5 => 8.0

The only way you are going to get string concatenation, is when one of the items on either side of the + is a string

To always insure you have a number and not a string use Number().
initialRadius = Number(radiusIncrement) + Number(oldRadius);
