Python How do I make this even/odd program work?

I am trying to make a simple program where you input a number and the computer will tell if it's an odd number or an even number (yes I'm a noob coder). I was using a strategy where I make the input number have no remainders after divided by 2 (thus making it even) but I'm not exactly sure how it might be written? And maybe I've made a lot of other mistakes as well.
Python:
input("give a random number: ")
input = int
if int % 2 == 0:
  print("you have an even number")
else:
  print("you have an odd number")

Solution
Found this online for you, saves me writing it all 😀

With your code you have 2 issues, first one is your input is a string and you cannot divide a string against a int so first we convert your string to the int.

Second you missed the brackets so yours reads as one long calcualtion where as the ( ) does the first two, gets the answer then checks to see if that equals 0 🙂

Hope this helps

Python:
num = int(input("Enter a number: "))
if (num % 2) == 0:
    print("{0} is Even number".format(num))
else:
    print("{0} is Odd number".format(num))

Even better:
Python:
num = int(input("Input a random number: "))

if num % 2 == 0:
  print(f"{num} is even.")
else:
  print(f"{num} is odd.")
