Sending form data to an email account

Back in the good old days, we could just use

<form action="[email protected]"

and it would work fine. After 6-7 years of retirement I am discovering that this approach is no longer valid with browsers throwing warning messages about not being able to send. This is making my attempt to remount an old website much harder. Can someone advise me on the current correct way to do this?

What you need is a backend of some language, an email, and either free access (not recommended) or credentials for it to send. I know in PHP it can be in php.ini. X E.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was pretty good at PHP at one time, and I have found a snippit that just might put me on the right track. I'll post back with the results in a day or so.
