Node.JS What should I consider when building a login / user system in Node.JS?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to implement a login/user system for my project in Node.js. But, I am not sure where to start so I wanted to ask you kind folks if my plan makes sense and if I'm missing anything important.

But I'm thinking my requirements would be something like:
  • Login form that sends a post request to the Node.js server, and verifies credentials against ones stored in the database.
    • Ensure proper security methods, like preventing SQL injections, XSS attacks.
  • A system for keeping track of user sessions.
  • A system for user roles (Admin/User).
  • A way for password resets.
  • A way for users to be created (will be done from admin dashboard).
In your opinion, do you think I'm missing anything important?

IDK the progress to this... But one thing to keep in mind is the
1) parameterized queries
2) encryption/decryption... Hashing+ salting
3, with xss, making sure to sanitize inputs
