Python Running a python file inside a python file (ANSWERED)

Zyphon_22

Hi for a project im working on i was wondering is there anyway you could run a python file inside a python file say for instance
choice = input(">")
if choice == "run"

# run a external python file
if anyone can tell me a way to run a python file inside one that would be helpful

Thanks

Python:
choice = input(">")
if choice >= "run":
    import file
There, import file will only open file.py I have tried. Try it yourself.
or:
Python:
choice = input(">")
if choice.lower() == 'run':
    import file #File name without extension

Just make sure the file (file.py in this case) is in the current directory:
folder/main.py
folder/importedthingy.py

in main.py:
import importedthingy

If it's in a subfolder you will be doing something like this:
files:
subfolder/importedthingy.py
main.py

in main.py:
fromsubfolder import importedthingy

yeah I have gone through enough errors to realise that i either have to put in the directorie/file or just put the file its quite annoying
