HTML & CSS HTML Searching System

I am working on a search project. I am new to html, css, etc., and haven't the slightest idea of how to accomplish this. Here is my idea in simplest form:

1. User visits website.
2. User finds search box (form) I created.
3. User types something into search box.
4. When the user clicks the search button, or presses enter, the website then takes what the user typed into the search box and places it in this link and proceeds to follow the link:

https://www.domain.com/results.aspx?s=

(USER SEARCH HERE)#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=(USER SEARCH HERE)&gsc.page=1


I have no idea what this process is called, so I have no way of researching it. If anyone can find a tutorial, or tell me what to look up, that would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

It's part of javascript called AJAX. Two types of ajax requests, GET and POST, your's is the GET type. You can find out more here https://www.w3schools.com/js/js_ajax_intro.asp

Be advised learning PHP or ASP may be necessary to use this.

Do you have to display the search result on the same HTML page?
If you just want to open a new tab for the user with the search query he inserted, you can simply do it with a little bit of JavaScript event handling.
