Looking for stuff (not C, C++, C#, Python, or Haxe) to do game dev for about everything. I got computers covered with Rust and VR/AR/XR/MR too with Rust. Since there is not much for Apple TVOS in Rust or cross platform I was thinking make Swift and have an iOS/iPadOS/TVOS single code base app and also have an Android thing in Kotlin and whatever else Android uses. Got all that covered. I am unsure what to do about game consoles, I did find DragonRuby for that but yeesh price. I did find PlayStation is rather expensive to start so I might skip that and Go with Ebitengine has Nintendo Switch and BSDs covered. Is there anything I could do better? (You know most what you need from above.)
Everything but Ebitengine has GPU shaders support stuff and I will probably use that. I know I will need this thing compiled for performance because as I saw, Ruby with Ruby2d just won't make it above 100 polygons well. I prefer GPU support where possible and not like Godot where if I want game consoles, buy someone else doing it. I would like to be one coding.
With that I got all Apple, all computers including BSDs, all popular mobile/tablet except tiny amount of Linux, Nintendo Switch and pricey other game consoles, Android including TV, and most if not all VR/AR/XR/MR. Can I consolidate any of this to require less code and still have everything? What about game consoles, anything better?
What I have looked into this far, Unity, Unreal, Defold (great open source engine), Godot, derivatives, heaps.io (great if you are okay with C* transpiler), Zig stuff, crates.io, most Rust game engines, Ruby stuff, GateEngine (Swift), pkg.go.dev including Ebitengine which is kind of unstable slightly as far as compatibility which is why I don't use Ebitengine for all computers (also compute shaders GPU), Swift game engines, JavaScript game engines (did find ChowJS but they won't take me), DragonRuby (paid sort of), web engines, Java and Kotlin engines, general engines search, etc.. Anything compiled or bytecode like Java should be able to handle this. I don't like Python or Lua, built on C*.
I only need 2d, file stuff, possibly sound, and text, I will be providing 3d+ math for it.
I think I talked enough, any advice or is what I stated good enough? Note that Ebitengine technically can do Xbox but is not allowed by Xbox to have other people in general using it. Basically all I am missing is Xbox for planned stuff. Tossing PlayStation. If you read all this, thanks, you are amazing. X E.
